ANXIETY DISORDER HELP - HOW TO GET THROUGH THIS?I have an anxiety disorder where i have panic attacks. I am starting driving school and im wondering what to do if i start to feel uncomfortable or go into a full blown panic attack? There will be an instructor there too.

Whenever i panic my arms usually go numb and i feel like "im not there but inside myself".

Does anyone have any advice? I already am aware of CBT and medication i would prefer advice on how to deal with this specific situation. Thank you so much for your help in advance!!

I am really excited to be able to drive and i just want to make it as easy as possible.

I would take some Prozac because if you have a panic attack while driving you could crash and die

First off don't give yourself a panic attack by worrying about having one while driving, you'll end up with a self fulfilling prophecy.
Just to be safe, talk to the instructor about your concerns. You know yourself and you know when you start to feel like uncomfortable. If at any point you feel like you need to, just pull over to the side and park.

Don't resort to meds unless it's your last hope. All you're doing with these medicines these days is create a dependency, once you stop the meds, the panic attacks become even worse than before you started.

The most painless way for you to deal with this crushing anxiety is finding the root cause, finding what is/are setting these panic attacks off. I sometimes have anxiety problems, but I can usually point to something as a signifigant stimulator for an attack of anxiety I'd be having. Often heavy loads of things on my agenda, usually related to school, is one easy cause. There's many possible ones.

Finding the issue helps you start to figure out how to stop it from negatively-impacting your life so much. If you let this negativity take hold of you, the misery it puts you through can distract you from simple solutions that can allieve stress in your life.

Don't just resort to a pill, it only deals with the issue by emotionally-blunting you to it, rather than providing you with solutions. Oh, and they only affect you so long before ALL of your anxiety is back, and worse. I know it's a hard truth, but we're all going to have to struggle with anxiety from time to time...

Just figure out how to not let it dominate your life.
