Is there something wrong with me for still having these fears as an adult?

Is there something wrong with me for still having these fears as an adult?I am 24 yrs old and scare extremely easily. I'm paranoid and have to close all doors when I'm in bed because I believe that somone or something is in the closet or outside the door that wants to get me... I tuck in the sheet under my feet at the foot of the bed so nobody can grab them. I feel like someones under the bed and in the back seat of my car and I always check and double check both. I'm still afraid of the dark because I'm scared of what I can't see (both literally and figuratively speaking). Scared of basements, atticks, the woods, barns, clowns, still feel like "candyman" is in the mirror, etc.

I have had problems with anxiety my whole life and ocd as a child. I don't know if either of these things have anything to do with it, but I thought I'd add it and see what you all think. These are childish fears that I had once believed would fade with age, but they never did. I realize that most of my fears are irrational, but that doesn't make any difference. Does anyone else have fears like these or have any ideas on why I can't shake mine?

Anxiety causes all sorts of responses in people. From fears within the home, to fears outside of the home. None of them are unusual or silly because they are YOUR fears. Your fears are real. Whether they are irrational in your mind or not, they're still there and that is important if not to anyone else, but to yourself.
Try some breathing excersises or some cognitive behaviour therapy to see if that helps.

I am terrified of clowns I went to a concert on halloween and there was so many people dressed as clowns my cousin brought one over my way and I fell to the ground crying

They say that those of us who have anxiety, can be easily startled. We can have irrational fears and worries, as well. Even though we might realize they don't make any sense, we have a difficult time shaking the fears and worries. I know from experience.

I used to have a lot of worries. I also worked at therapy, and have developed much better coping skills than i ever had before. I've learned to think more rationally and positively. I avoid people and situations which make me uncomfortable. I don't watch things on television or movies which might influence my fears/worries. As individuals, we have a right to set our own boundaries for ourselves and with others. It's all about self-preservation.

You could consider some therapy if you think it may help. It did help me quite a lot, and i've found it works when we work it.

take care of you.
