Anyone have experience with Trazedone as an anti-depressant?I have the sort of doctor who lets me research drugs then tell him what I think will work best for me. He also lets me know when I'm way off, but that's not part of the question.
I have anxiety and depression and I can't sleep. I thought I'd kill at least 2 of those birds with one stone and suggest Trazedone. I know it is often prescribed in low doses for sleep, but I was wondering if anyone had any experiences - good or bad - using it as an anti-depressant.
Note: I can't take SSRIs because they cause me too much anxiety, Wellbutrin also causes me anxiety.
Thanks in advance.
**Just asking on here because I don't really trust those "side effects" websites. Usually personal experience is the best way to find out about something.
Just to reiterate - I can't take SSRIs. Can't take any of them.
EDIT: I take klonapin for anxiety

Celexa and lexapro are two ssri's that are good for generalized anxiety

Traz is moderately helpful for insomnia, moderately worthless for anything else.
I had to take so much Traz to sleep that I felt drugged in the morning.
you may have better luck.
I like lithium for depression, taking blood tests is critical however. It can be dangerous.
By the way, let your doctor pick the meds. He has the practical experience.

It isn't the antidepressants that cause your anxiety. Anxiety usually coexists with depression. Trazadone is good of course it is taken at night before bed. Some antidepressants work for some but not for others. If the Trazadone doesn't help you after 3 or 4 weeks. Try another antidepressant but tell your doctor that if it doesn' help with anxiety that you need also an anti-anxiety med. That is how I have always done it. You can take SSRIs you just need an anti-anxiety medication along with it.
