What is wrong with our Shih Tzu?

Do you find what you need? Look here!

What is wrong with our Shih Tzu?We have a 12 year old Shih Tzu who for years has been very independent and pretty much was content to be by himself. Over the past couple of years that has changed a lot and he became more and more "clingy" (for lack of a better way to put it.) He began liking to be next to us more and even seemed to "need" to be on our laps on occasion. Here's the weird part... the last few months he's become more and more "clingy", needing to be right near us at all times... if I go out in the kitchen to do anything, he's right there with me. He even needs to be with us when we use the bathroom.

The last few days it's become much much worse. For the past 24 hours he has us really concerned. Ever since last night he has not settled down for long, he's up walking and walking and walking and pacing around. As I sit here typing this he's circling my chair and panting. This is very strange and we don't know what to do about it or understand why he's acting this way. We can't get him to just lay down and be still. Does anyone have a clue why he's acting like this or what we can do about it? Is he just "losing it" from old age maybe? He hasn't been sick and aside from this strange "hyper" almost "anxiety" like behavior, he's otherwise fine.

One other thing, he has had a few "seizures" where he'll let this long howl out and pass out. When this happens it looks like he's dead... he rolls on his side, stiffens his legs out and usually pees. In a few seconds he comes out of it and always seems really confused for a few minutes and will go off by himself. It usually will be followed by his sleeping a lot the next day. Sometimes he acts "lost"... he'll walk out into the middle of the room and just stand there, staring into space for the longest time.

But this is really weird.... he's still going in circles around my chair and it's been a good 10 minutes since I've been typing this. But like I said... this has been going on now for hours. Help!!!
